BRAIN AWARENESS WEEK

Cervell. a.. mente 2020 “The Brain: Between Science and Wisdom”

Cervell..a..mente is a series of seminars designed to introduce high school students to the results of research in the ever-growing field of neuroscience. Every year, more than 60 schools with about 6000 students from all over Lombardy participate to the event, contributing to its success, organized by the Center of Excellence for Neurodegenerative Diseases of the University of Milan. The 2020 edition of Cervell..a..mind, entitled: “The Brain: Between Science and Wisdom”, will be mainly focused on the current theme of artificial intelligence, a reality that on the one hand intimidates us, but which on the other hand leads us back to the important reflection on thought and on the importance of the debate between science and wisdom. Speakers from Italian academia and experts in the field will discuss the similarities and differences between brain (human intelligence) and intelligent machines (artificial intelligence), in relation to their ability to learn, memory and thought processing. The event will take place in the Aula Magna of the University of Milan, during the week from 17 to 21 February, and will be streamed live through the internet on the UNIMI portal: http://portalevideo.unimi.it/
